Carol Angelo, 90, of North Reading, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to family and friends.
Carol was a resident of North Reading for 52 years. She shared a beautiful 61-year marriage with the love of her life, John Angelo, a partnership built on deep love, resilience, and unwavering support. Together they faced life’s challenges and shared countless joys.
Family was at the center of Carol’s world. She was an adoring mother to William Schmidt who predeceased her, Melanie Nash, Chuck Schmidt, and Christine Cook. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Sarah Stevens, Jennifer Schmidt, Laura Schmidt, Brian Nash, Kate Nash, Ross Cook, Collin Cook, and Grace Schmidt, and a cherished great-grandmother to Sofia, Abigail, Elizabeth, and Bennett. She was also a caring and devoted aunt to her beloved sister Donna’s children, Cheryl Nelson, Barbra DelVecchio, and Steven King. Carol now joins her loving sister Donna in heaven.
Carol worked as an administrative assistant at the North Reading Fire Department and the Reading School District.
She treasured her friendships and always looked forward to dates on the calendar to gather with friends. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, live music, dancing, cooking, and watercolor painting.
An active and dedicated member of the Union Congregational Church in North Reading, Carol generously gave her time as a volunteer and found great joy in her faith community.
She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and the simple, meaningful ways she showed love—especially through the many cards and notes she sent to family and friends. In her honor, please take a moment to write a note to someone you care about and let them know what they mean to you.
Carol’s warmth, generosity, and deep love for her family will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, May 13 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading. A celebration of Carol’s life will continue with a service on Thursday, May 14 at 11:00 AM at the Union Congregational Church, 148 Haverhill Street, North Reading. Following the service, all are welcome to join the family for food, fellowship and shared memories at Teresa’s Prime in North Reading.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s honor to the Union Congregational Church, 148 Haverhill St. North Reading. The donations will be used by the Church’s Care Ministry which Carol greatly loved, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization that Carol supported over the years.

Dearest John and family,
Words cannot begin to describe my sadness over the loss of your precious Carol. We met (and bonded over our Malden Edgeworth roots) when I volunteered at the first ever North Reading “Real Senior Prom” four years ago at Hillview CC! I remember walking over to this lovely couple, John and Carol, to compliment them on their prowess on the dance floor. Thus began sharing mutual family friendships, especially that you were such good friends with my Uncle Angelo (“Clem”) and Aunt Mary DiLuca!! I continued to relish seeing my beautiful new friend, Carol, and her friends, regularly sharing Sunday coffee and conversation at the Washington St. Dunkin’ Donuts! I knew the time they met and purposely went to say hi and give the biggest hug to Carol!! Gosh, she was such a love and adored you, John, and her family. I will miss catching up with her sooo much at noon Sundays at Dunks!! With much love and support,
Lori (Sensale) Capezzuto (and granddaughter of the Malden Edgeworth DiLuca family)
