Roy V. Sample – 91, of Stoneham, formerly of North Reading and Malden, passed away, at his home on Friday, July 3, 2026. He was the husband of the late Hazel T. (Pierce) Sample.

Born in Boston, MA on May 27, 1935, he was the son of the late Frederick A. and Mabel M. (Chase) Sample. Roy was raised and attended Stoneham Schools and  was a graduate of Stoneham High School.

Roy was a U.S. Army Veteran, he was a SP4 and served from 1955 to 1958. He was a member of the Disable American Veterans. After moving to Stoneham, he was a former resident of North Reading for 58 years.

He worked as an Electronic Quality Control Engineer for many years. Roy worked hard and he cared for others. He worked very hard to protect the animals, birds and the environment. He liked fishing, growing tomatoes and grapes, he enjoyed cooking and had a like for cats.

His services will be private and are under the direction of the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading.
