Robert “Bob” L. Santiano – 78, of North Reading, died at his home surrounded by his family on June 2, 2022.

Born in East Boston on August 16, 1943.  He was the son of the late Joseph and Grace Santiano.  He met the love of his life, Jean, at an ice skating rink in Lynn.  They married and moved to Woburn and had four children.  Later they moved to North Reading.

Bob owned his own flooring business for over 50 years and enjoyed going to work every day.  When his sons where younger, he spent time coaching their hockey and baseball teams. Bob loved spending time with his family the most.  Known as “Papa” he would dress up as Santa at Christmas time for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  When he wasn’t spending time with his family you could find him at the golf course or volunteering at the Mission of Deeds.  He was also a former president of the Son’s of Italy and a member of the Elks in Wakefield.

Bob was the life of the party.  His personality would light up a room.  He made everyone around him feel welcomed and would always make friends where ever he went.  Bob’s philosophy on life: work hard, love what you do and when things get tough, never give up.

Bob was the beloved husband of the late Jean Santiano.  He was the loving father to Deborah Santiano-Queen of Wilmington, Carol Cattoggio and husband Scott of Methuen, David Santiano and wife Barbara of Burlington, and Christopher Santiano and wife Rachel of Hudson.  Papa to Jalisa, Derek, Brandie, Courtney, Scotty Jr., Kayla, Braden, Anthony and Matthew.  Great Papa to Costantino, Mia and Cassidy.  Brother to Rita Cipriano, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Thursday, June 9 at 9:15 AM, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street, North Reading. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 8 from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.

In lieu of flowers, the Santiano family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, 501 Saint Jude Pl., Memphis, TN  38105-1905.

Beverly A. (Buckler) Goodwin – 97, of North Reading and formerly of Reading, MA, died Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dana A. Goodwin, Sr.

Born in Holden, MA on July 14, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Anita (Ferguson) Buckler. She graduated from Reading High School, Class of 1942 and attended Boston University from 1942 to 1943.

Beverly worked for Veteran’s Services for the Town of North Reading from 1966 to 1990. She has been a resident of North Reading since 1946.

She always was positive, kind, generous and caring. She loved life and was adventurous. Beverly enjoyed travelling, dining out and gardening. She was an accomplished seamstress and wonderful homemaker taking great pride in her North Reading home that she helped build and occupied from 1961 to her time of passing. She loved horses, had her own pony as a young child and enjoyed working with her father’s Hackney Carriage Ponies. She enjoyed walking in town engaging in conversations with her many friends along the way.

Beverly loved to travel and vacationed around the world with her devoted companion of 52 years, William (Billy) Zanni of Reading.

Family members include her loving children, Dana Goodwin of Rowley, Linda Walsh of Andover, Steve Goodwin and wife Dianne, of Sandown, NH and Bruce Goodwin and wife Linda, of North Reading; grandchildren, Joseph DiFraia and Christina Prussman, both of Andover, Ben Goodwin and wife Candice of Greer, South Carolina, Matt Goodwin of Lynn and Wendy Boynton of Medford, OR, great grandchildren, Jake DiFraia of Santa Fe, NM, Jossy DiFraia of Andover, Henry, Jr., Ava and Ryan Prussman of Andover, Sydney Dunbrack of Cloud Croft, NM and Caitlin Officer of Dunsmuir, CA; and great-great grandson, Ryland Officer of Dunsmuir, CA. She was the sister of the late Bruce Buckler, Nancy Zanni and Shirley Cheyne.

Patricia Ann “Pat” Martin born to the late Edward Joseph Martin and May Helena Lamantia at St. Francis Hospital in Miami Beach, Florida on July 24^th 1947, passed away suddenly at her Groveland, MA home on May 17^th 2022.

Pat graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and then earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing at Catholic University in Washington D.C. in 1973. She later attended Mass School of Law in Andover. Pat devoted her Career as a Director of Nursing in Long Term Care Facilities for over 40 years. She loved working with the elderly to bring about a better quality of care for patients and their families. Later in her career she passed on her knowledge as a Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor for the American Red Cross.

Pat was beloved by her many friends and professional colleagues as well as all of the patients she’s cared for. She treasured her long friendships and always looked forward to Nova Scotia travel. She adored her two dogs Justina and Tede who will forever miss her. Pat has lived her life with a deep unshakable faith in God and the Catholic Church to which she remained faithful up to the very moment of her death.

Friends may honor Pats life by gathering for her services on Thursday, June 2^nd at Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street,  North Reading, MA at 10AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM. James M. “Lobster” Burke – 66, of North Reading and formerly of Somerville, died at his home on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

Born in Cambridge, MA on May 17, 1956. He was the son of the late Henry J. and Pearl L. (Cooper) Burke. Jim was a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1975. He was a truck driver for the North Reading Public Works Highway Department for many years.

Lobster was a very caring, thoughtful, and generous person to all his family and friends. He was always the life of the party a bigger than life personality. His nieces and nephews meant the world to him, like they were his own children. He was Santa for many years, he took them to the drive in and trick or treating in his truck. He had many many good friends was well known in town. Loved stopping in the town trucks and saying hi to all the kids.

Lobster was the North Reading High School wrestling champion. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Knights of Columbus for most of his adult life. He has been a resident of North Reading for the past 53 years.

He loved playing in the town leagues for men’s softball for many years, he loved bowling and golfing and had made a hole-in-one June 21, 2014 on the 13th hole of Middleton Golf Course.

He loved going to the Patriot games and tailgating with his friends and often took nieces or nephews with him. He did many charitable motorcycle bike runs. He would do the Laconia bike weeks as well on his Harley. He especially loved playing cards with friends.

Family members include his loving brothers, Henry D. Burke and his late wife Gayle, Edward J. Burke and his wife Sandra and Joseph T. Burke and his wife Sheila; his late sister Nancy A. Burke Abruzzese and her surviving husband David Abruzzese; nieces and nephews, Regan Lamphier, Christina Dunn, Colleen Peabody, Carol Abruzzese, Kelley Wilson, Cathleen Abruzzese-Pavlini, Joseph Burke, Kevin Burke, Robin Evans, David Abruzzese, Justin Burke, Kayla Burke, Scott Burke, Morgan Burke, Timothy Cersale and the late Sean Burke; numerous great nieces and great nephews, including the late Ethan Lamphier and one great great nephew.

Dorothy L. (Corbett) Hartery – 95, of North Reading and formerly of Medford, died Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Hartery.

Born in Medford, MA on May 8, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Lillian (Masiello) Corbett. Dorothy was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School.

Dorothy was a secretary for the North Reading Public Schools for 28 years. She also worked for the Army Base in South Boston from 1945 to 1946, American Art Institute in Boston from 1946 to 1948 and the F.W. Dodge Corporation in Boston from 1948 to 1950.

She was a devoted wife, a loving and caring mother, who was supportive and protective of her family. She was a part time secretary for MH Auto Service in North Reading and a cheerleader of her son’s athletic careers. She loved to read westerns and mysteries, crocheted afghans, mittens, hats and everything else. She was a damn good cook and loved the beach.

Dorothy was a resident of North Reading for over 72 years and a member of St. Theresa’s Church. She was a member of the North Reading Senior Citizen Group and was a hockey cheerleading advisor in North Reading from 1973 to 1978. She also enjoyed working at the North Reading voting polls for many years.

Family members include her four loving sons, Andrew and his wife Donna, Michael, Stephen and his wife Gail and Peter and his wife Ann; sisters, Marion Almquist and Alice Duddy; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be private at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Friday, May 27. (*please have flowers delivered by noon, thanks.)  A graveside service will be held in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 28.
