Lawrence J. Meaney – 83, of North Reading and formerly of Medford, died at his home on Friday, September 16, 2016.

Born in Somerville, MA on August 11, 1933. He was the son of the late Patrick and Helen Barry. He attended school in Santa Monica City College in Santa Monica, CA and was a graduate of Merrimack College in Andover. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served from 1952 to 1955.

Larry was a 37 year employee for Raytheon Manufacturing Company, International Division as a Program Manager for contracts with the Netherlands and Germany. He has been a resident of North Reading for the past 55 years and was a member of St. Theresa’s Church.

He had a strong commitment and love of his family. He had a  “glass half full” outlook on life, a  love of friends and he loved unconditionally. He loved golf, bowling, movies, cribbage, travel, socializing with friends, going to all his grandchildren’s events and activities and watching the Red Sox and Patriots. He was a member of the Raytheon Golf and Bowling Leagues. He was also a former Little League coach in North Reading.

Family members include his beloved wife of 61 years, Claudia C. (DeGiso)  Meaney. His loving children, Karen Bonneau and her husband Alan of Amherst; Brian Meaney of Holden; Catherine Aldrich and her husband Gregory of Amherst; John Meaney and his wife Nancy of North Reading and Mark Meaney and his wife Kimberly of Ipswich;  brothers, Paul A. Meaney and his wife Dolores of Novato, CA, William Meaney of Murrieta, CA;  sister, Ann Marie O’Shea and her husband George of Wenham; 11 grandchildren Danielle Danilov and her husband Konstantin, Jacklyn, Dean , Samantha, Taylor, Jake, Jack, Lauren, Patrick, Katherine, Ryan and a  great grandson Nico.

Eugene  S.  Tworek – 71, of North Andover and formerly of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.

Born in Columbus, Nebraska, on August 12, 1945, he was the son of the late Stanley  A., Sr. and Mary S. (Teterus) Tworek. He attended Elementary School at St. Stanislaus School in Duncan, NE and was a graduate of St. Bonaventure High School in Columbus, NE. He was a Regents Scholar at the University of Nebraska, he studied Mathematics and was a Scholarship Recipient at Merrimack College, he studied Computer Programming Languages, he also attended the University of Lowell, studying Logic and Design, Math and Marketing.

Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, he was a SP5 and served from 1967 to 1969. He was a Manager of Information Systems for the Town of North Reading for many years. He was an active member of St. Michael Parish in North Andover and served as a Lector. Gene was a 4-H volunteer and served a term as President of the Massachusetts 4-H Council and a volunteer at the Lazarus House Homeless Shelter in Lawrence.

Gene had a gentle spirit, he loved everyone and was universally loved. Gene was a kind caring individual, he took pride in his work at a 100%. He was a true old fashioned gentleman and enjoyed duck hunting in his earlier years. Gene enjoyed running, nature walks and he loved the outdoors. He was an avid Patriot’s Fan, he spoke highly of the military and was an airplane enthusiast. He especially loved the farm he grew up on in Nebraska.

Family members include his Loving brothers, Virgil Tworek-Hofstetter and his wife Mary of Columbus, NE, Edward Tworek and his wife Jeanne of Omaha, NE, Stanley Tworek, Jr. and his wife Connie of Columbus, NE;  sisters, Mary Wagner and her husband Keith of Kearney, NE, Rose Ann Buggi and her husband John, Paulette Paprocki and Celeste Tworek, all of Columbus, NE;  special friend, Cheryl Kenney of Georgetown; 26 adoring nieces and nephews and 33 great nieces and great nephews.

His Funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading on Saturday, September 10 at 8:15 AM, followed by a 10 AM Funeral Mass at St. Michael Parish, 196 Main St., North Andover. June M. (MacNeil) Nightingale – 83, of Sabattus, Maine and formerly of North Reading, Stoneham and Melrose, died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Montello Manor in Lewiston, ME. She was the wife of the late Richard T. Macneil.

Born in Boston, MA on April 6, 1933. She was the daughter of the late David and Margaret “Marie” (Iverson) MacNeil.                   .

She was raised and attended school in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School. June worked as a bookkeeper for Gaffey’s Funeral Home of Medford. She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in North Reading.

June was very generous to those less fortunate.  When living in Melrose with a young family of her own, she would make clothing for some of the less fortunate neighbors.  She had a strong sense of humor, always ready with a sharp come-back.  She loved her pets, Brandy the chocolate lab and various birds over the years.

When she was younger she loved, waterskiing, boating, square-dancing and she was a very accomplished seamstress.  She also enjoyed, reading, knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, following the Red Sox and spending time with her grandkids and great grand kids.

Family members include her loving sons, Richard Macneil and his wife Maria of Wilmington, Scott Macneil and his wife Christine of North Reading and the late Thomas Macneil; loving daughters, Cheryl Holmes and her late husband Jona of Sabuttus, Maine and Elizabeth Smith and her husband Glenn of Blackstone; her sister, Susan Kroon and her husband Lou of Melrose. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading, on Saturday, September 3 at 12:30 PM. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11 to 12:30 PM. Gabriella A. (DiGiovanni) DiMeo, 76, of North Reading and formerly of Stoneham and Pescara, Italy, died at her home on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.

Born in Pescara, Italy on February 15, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Superior Court Justice of Genoa, Italy, Marino Conte and Angelina DiGiovanni.

Gabriella worked as a secretary for many years for her husband’s Architectural Firm, Peter F. DiMeo Associates, Inc. in Stoneham. She has been a resident of North Reading for the past 32 years. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Church in North Reading and a former member of St. Patrick’s Church in Stoneham.

Family members include her loving husband of 58 years, Peter F. DiMeo;  loving children, Frank A. DiMeo and his wife Julie, all of North Reading and Brigitte G. Nenninger and her husband Frank of Salisbury, CT; her brother, Bruno DiGiovanni of Pescara, Italy and her granddaughter, Hunter Nenninger.

Gabriella’s  funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Monday, August 29 at 9:15 AM, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street (Rt.62), North Reading.
