Bernadette J. Sorrenti

Bernadette J. (Correlle) Sorrenti, 78, of North Reading, died on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Beverly Hospital, after a gallant and excruciating struggle with kidney disease.

Born in Stoneham, MA on August 20, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Bernard J. and Leona E. (Doran) Correlle. Bernadette was a life-long resident of North Reading, she was a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1965 and a member of St. Theresa’s Church.

She was enveloped with unwavering love at her last breath by her devoted husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nephews, and nieces that she loved so deeply. Bernadette was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was raised in North Reading on Martin’s Pond, which is also where she met Tom, the love of her life, and married at 21.

She was the oldest of seven siblings and took her role seriously. Bernadette was the model mother for her two children and provided endless selfless love. Her radiant smile, thoughtfulness, and love of family is how she is remembered best. Bern was often described as a hard act to follow and a Mary Poppins type-practically perfect in every way.

Bernadette was devoted to her family and showed up to every event with something thoughtful and outrageously delicious. She had a gift for making you feel special. She was an expert cake maker, but only for family members-often to the envy of others. She loved to belly laugh and show her beautiful dimple. She basked in being the object of ridicule-particularly around how many pictures she would take. She took it in stride because she knew she was revered and how thankful we’d be one day.

Bernadette was most proud of being the quintessential caretaker and showing everyone how much she loved them. She leaves a void that is irreplaceable and for which there is no substitute.

Family members include her loving husband of 58 years, Tom Sorrenti; her son, Michael Sorrenti and his wife Dawn and her daughter, Christine Sorrenti-Massaia; sisters, Sandra Correlle, Leona Pebler and her husband David; Mary Polito and her husband Michael, Tricia Dillon, and Anne Marie Langill and her husband Bob; her brother, Paul Correlle and his wife Missy; 4 grandchildren, Erica and Mark Sorrenti and Nico and Lyla Massaia; along with many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 6 at 9:15 AM from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street, North Reading. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 5 from 4 to 7 PM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
