Paul G. Jones

Paul  G. Jones – 77, of Palm Coast , FL., formerly of Sandown, NH  and Charlestown, MA., passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018.

Born in Boston, MA on June 17, 1941, he was the son of the late Maurice Jones and Alice (Mair) Ash. He was a graduate of Charlestown High School.

Paul was devoted to his family, he had a great sense of humor and had a very colorful personality. He enjoyed traveling cross country in his RV, hunting, fishing and the New England Patriots. He was a vocational teacher at Northeast Vocational High School and then an electrical engineer at Schneider Electric in Andover, MA, where he retired from in 2006.

Family members include his beloved late wife Emily (Chase) Jones; his daughter, Susan Jones of Palm Coast, FL; his son Paul J. Jones of Boca Raton, FL.; brother of Thomas Jones and his wife Kathleen of Falmouth, MA, Daniel Jones and his wife Lucille of North Reading and Alice Young of Enfield, CT; he was the brother of the late Maurice Jones, Katherine Vaughan, Fred Jones and Alan Jones; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Jones of Lynn , Laura Jones of Wrentham and Joanne Jones of Charlestown. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Kristina Jones of Boca Raton. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held in Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Remembrances may be made in his memory to the New England Home for Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02115. Alice M. Mansfield

Alice M. (Jackson) Mansfield – 98, of Danvers and formerly of Beverly, Rockport and North Reading, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Hathorne Hill in Danvers. She was the wife of the late Harley F. Mansfield

Born in Beverly, MA on May 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Carl W. and Olive (McCallister) Jackson. She attended Beverly Schools and Rockport High School.

In spite of tragedy in her early life, Alice never looked back and dwelt on it, but looked forward and got her pilot license. Alice met and married Harley F. Mansfield, another pilot and started an aerial advertising company in 1953, named Aviad in North Reading.

She and Harley raised two sons together, the younger son Wayne joined the family business. When widowed at age 53, she turned to painting for therapy and became an accomplished artist.

Alice was a member of the Rockport Art Association and Danvers Art Association. She had two sailboats and moored them in Salem, MA. She was an expert seamstress, knitter and gardener.

Family members include her loving sons, Wayne Mansfield and his wife Nancy of Boxford and John Mansfield of Porter, Maine; 4 grandchildren, Ian Mansfield, Lucy Mansfield, Jason Mansfield and Megan Mansfield and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to display her artwork. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading. www.croswellfuneralhome.com

Martha R. Melanson

Martha R. (Holbert) Melanson –75, of Medford and formerly of North Reading, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the Glen Ridge Nursing Center in Medford after a lengthy illness.

Born in Boston, MA on June 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Arlyss C. and S. Winnifred (Evelyn) Holbert.

Martha worked as a Technician for EG & G for many years. She was a long time resident of North Reading, she was a member of St. Theresa’s Church and the Loyal Order of Moose in North Reading.

Family members include her loving son, Donald Holbert and his wife Susanna of Wilmington; grandchildren, Donald, Jr. and Alexandra Holbert.

Graveside service will be held in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading on Monday, July 23 at 1:00 PM. There will be no calling hours. Raymond Henry Kelly

Raymond Henry Kelly, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 24, 2018. A long time resident of North Reading, Ray worked as a carpenter for most of his career. He loved to cook and was an outrageous risk taker with everything he did. He loved all Motor sports.

Ray was one of a kind and he will be missed by all.

Ray is survived by his parents, Stephen and Deborah Kelly; his brother, Stephen Kelly, Jr. and his wife Laura; his sisters, Janet and her husband Michael Connolly, Lori and her husband Barry Urquhart. Ray was a very proud uncle to Jennifer Wade and her husband Nick and their children, Nick and Ava; Shawn Connolly, DJ and Nick Mawn ; Daniel, Samantha and Shannon Kelly, Jackie Barnaby, Jaxon Fell, and Barry and Mae Urquhart. Ray was also loved by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and girlfriend Alicia.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29 from 4 to 8 PM, followed by a Service at 8 PM at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice. www.croswellfuneralhome.com

Peter C. Sapp

Peter C. Sapp – 52, of North Reading and formerly of Huntsville, AL, died at his home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Born in Westminster, CA on August 27, 1965, he was a graduate of Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL, Class of 1983 and graduated with a B.S. in Biology at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Class of 1988. Peter worked as a Research Scientist for Howard Hughes Medical Institute at UMass Medical School. Peter spent his entire professional career studying the genetic cause of ALS. He was instrumental in the discovery of the first gene linked with the disease.

He has been a resident of North Reading for the past 26 years. He was an avid soccer fan and coached his three children in North Reading Youth Soccer between 2000-2015. His greatest pleasure was hiking in the woods with his family, friends, and his dog. Family members include his loving wife of 27 years, Ellen (Clifford) Sapp; his son, Adam Sapp; daughters, Kiera Sapp and Susannah Sapp; his parents, T. Phillip Sapp and Bernita (Crater) Sapp; his brother, Paul Sapp; and his sister, Pamela (Sapp) Collins. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18 from 5 to 8 PM at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading. There will be no funeral service. There will be a gathering in Huntsville, Alabama at a later date.
