William R. Winter

William R. Winter – 62, of Reading, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

He was born in Weymouth, MA on May 18, 1957. He was the son of the late Norman J. and Janet F. (Hall) Winter. Bill attended Reading public schools and was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1976. He also attended Middlesex Community College and was a graduate of Salem State College with a B.S. in Business.

He worked in the construction industry for many years and has been a resident of Reading for the past 56 years.

Bill had a big heart; he loved his family dearly and was always willing to lend a hand. He had a good sense of humor and was always joking around.

Bill loved to read, fish and travel. He has been to many countries and he especially loved Costa Rica.

Family members include his loving brothers, Norman J. Winter, Jr. and his wife Jan of CA, the late Thomas F. Winter, Sr. and Dennis J. Winter and his wife Karen of Reading; his loving sister, Lisa M. (Winter) Richardson and her husband James of North Reading. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Saturday, January 11 at 8:30 AM, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street (Rt. 62), North Reading. Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston or to the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Arrangements are by the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading. www.croswellfuneralhome.com

  1. Will always remember all the conversations Bill and I had on the front porch of 36, it always turned to fishing at some point. You will be truly missed here at Tannerville Bill. Condolences to all Bill’s family

    Very sorry to hear about Billy, We know how much he loved Scituate. His kindness to Amy and Jesse was greatly appreciated given all the times he and Dennis took them fishing.

    Billy will always have a spot in Cedar Point history.

    We are in Florida, returning on the 11th so am sorry to miss the service.
