James J. Timoney

James  J. Timoney – 82, of North Reading and formerly of Malden, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 27, 2021 after a long illness.

Born in Boston, MA on September 13, 1938, he was the son of the late Peter and Nora (Regan) Timoney. James was a graduate of Boston College High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Boston College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served honorably from 1961-1966.

James worked at Travelers Insurance Company (Citigroup) in Property and Casualty Claims for 34 years until he retired in 1990. Prior to his career at Travelers James worked for Jordan Marsh as a toy buyer. He was a resident of North Reading for 55 years and a member of St. Theresa’s Church.

A devoted husband and father James is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia A. (Marshall); son Jeffrey and his wife Dena; daughters Deborah and Susan and her husband Larry; proud grandfather of Ashleigh, Katherine, Alexia and Robert; brother of the late Mary Timoney; and brothers-in-law Robert and Paul Marshall.

James loved being surrounded by family.  He enjoyed celebrating life’s moments, big and small and was never without his camera. He loved the holidays, especially Christmas. Shopping for the perfect gift and a few treats or surprises to make you smile. He always sent cards on birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions and loved buying flowers and stuffed animals.  James enjoyed spending time in the yard, gardening, grilling, going for car rides and family trips.

Funeral services will be Private. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in North Reading. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the CCS/North Reading Food Pantry,150 Haverhill Street, North Reading, MA 01864.
