Gerald A. MacAdams

Gerald A. MacAdams, 70, of North Reading, succumbed peacefully to cancer at his home surrounded by his loving family on April 12, 2018.

Gerald is survived by his wife Dorothy (Callahan) MacAdams of 42 years.  Gerald and Dorothy are originally from Medford and moved to North Reading in 1976 where they built their life and raised their family.

He is also survived by his four children and their families; son, Joseph R Healy, Jr. of North Reading;  daughter, Sheila (Healy) Sturdevant and her children; Meghan Masellas, Sydney, Mackenzie and Samantha Sturdevant all of North Reading;  daughter, Jaime (MacAdams) Wentworth and her husband Brett Wentworth and their children, Jessica, Alexandra and Jacob Wentworth of Thornton, Colorado;  son, Christopher MacAdams and his wife Bonnie (Stanley) MacAdams and their children, Devin Stanley, Juliana, Ashley and Aidan MacAdams, all of North Reading;  brother, Lawrence MacAdams and wife Barbara; brother, Kenneth MacAdams and sister, Cheryl (MacAdams) Breen and her husband Fran, and many extended family and friends.

Gerald loved baseball, softball, bowling, basketball, gardening, fishing, Boston sports, Newfound Lake vacations.  But most of all, spending with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren at his home enjoying barbeques in the backyard and pool side all while laughing, teasing, talking and even singing favorite songs to his wife.

Gerald was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country.  He was also a brother in Local 29 Boilermakers for 43 years.

A special thank you to Susan Magner, Veteran’s Director of North Reading and to Lahey Hospice at Home in Woburn.   Thank you to all of our family and friends who have been by our side through this long journey.

Visitation will be from 3 pm to 8pm on Tuesday, April 17th at Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading.  A Service will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 11 am at the funeral home, from which a procession will bring Gerald to lay at rest at Riverside Cemetery in North Reading on Elm Street.   In Lieu of flowers donations can be made payable to North Reading Veteran’s Gift Account, 235 North St., North Reading, MA 01864. www.croswellfuneralhome.com

  3. I’m sorry to her about his passing he is now resting in peace may god be with you and your family you are all in my prays always remember the good times you had with him I knew his Mother from the Community Baptist Church in Medford

  4. So sorry for the loss of Jerry McAdams. We remember his pride in the beautiful tomatoes he grew. The McAdams are a wonderful family and Dotsy and his children and grandchildren are a joy to be near. The country should be grateful for his service in Vietnam.
