Donald E. Reardon, Sr.

Donald E. Reardon, Sr.  – 87, of Groveland, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24th, 2018 at the Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport, MA.

Born in Boston, MA  on January 31st 1931 to Margaret and Atty. Edward Reardon he grew up the eldest of four children in Southie by Castle Island. He was very active in many sports as a child and young man especially hockey and baseball. He attended BC High and went on to Boston College and New England School of Art.

In 1953 Donald married the love of his life, Doris Perrault, with whom he recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.  Soon after their marriage, Don became a serviceman during the Korean War.

Don and Doris had two children, Dianne Jean (Reardon) Fischbach of Ipswich and Donald Edward Reardon, Jr. of Groveland, both of whom were blessed with a childhood filled with love warmth and humor .

Don was a loving and dedicated husband who never missed an opportunity to express his love, admiration and appreciation for his wife and best friend,  Doris.

He was also very loving and immensely proud of his children Dianne and D.J. and their spouses Victor Fischbach, Jr. and Nancy Reardon, who along with Doris, helped care for him with the love and tenderness of a daughter .

A beloved husband father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Don could always be counted on for a shoulder to lean on and advice when asked. He was also a mentor to disadvantaged youth through a local organization .

He enjoyed golf, reading, beautiful music, nature and long walks. Most of all, perhaps, he enjoyed being a grandfather to Donald Edward Reardon, III,  who tragically died in 2001, Kelly Marie Reardon and Joseph Ryan Reardon . They were a never ending source of joy and pride to him.

Donald is predeceased by his brother Robert of California and is survived by his sister Marilyn of Texas and his brother Edward of California numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much.

He will be sorely missed and very fondly remembered for the truly special man he was.

We would like to offer a special thank you to Care Dimensions of Danvers for the incredible care, sensitivity and compassion they offered to Donald and his family over the past several months.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Donald’s memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St, Danvers MA 01923.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM,  at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park and Cemetery located at 185 Lake Street, West Peabody, MA . www.croswellfuneralhome.com

  1. The Reardon Family; I will miss your Dad like I would miss my own. A very gentle kind soul, Don always made me feel comfortable in his presence. It was always obvious how much
    he loved his family and part of his extended family I always felt his love. Don has left us psychically but certainly not spiritually. We are all better having felt Don’s love. God Bless the
    Reardon family.

    Sincerely;

    Richard, Susan and Kayli Keenan
