Santo J. Terranova

terranova pic2Santo J. Terranova  – 89, of North Reading and formerly of Watertown MA, died at the Brentwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Danvers on Wednesday May 25th 2016.

Born in South Boston, MA on August 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Guiseppina (D’Arrigo) Terranova.  Santo was a graduate of South Boston High School. He worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company in Somerville, as a Sewing Machinist for many years.

He has been a resident of North Reading for the past 54 years and was a member of St. Theresa’s Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with family, relatives, friends and neighbors.  He was a master handyman and could fix anything that people called upon him to do. He was a devoted husband and father. On Halloween he would dress up as a clown and hand out candy to kids in the hospitals. He especially enjoyed golfing.

Family members include his loving wife of 63 years, Rose A. (Arico) Terranova; his sons, Paul J. Terranova and his wife Debbie of Wilmington and Robert J. Terranova and his wife Gigi of Haverhill; his daughter, Sandra Terranova of Rowley; his grandchildren; Keri, Andrew, Anthony and Andrea; he was the brother of the late Anthony, Frank and John Terranova, Anna Micheroni and Dorothy Rotundi.

Funeral from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading, on Wednesday , June 1 at 9:15 AM, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street (Rt.62), North Reading. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 31 from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading. Joseph K. Park

joseph Park picJoseph K. Park – 71, of Wakefield, formerly of Melrose and North Reading, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Wingate at Reading.

Born in Melrose, MA on April 29, 1945. He was the son of the late Gordon and Margaret (Bourque) Park. He was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1963. Joe worked for the Boston Naval Shipyard from 1967 to 1973 and as a Letter Carrier for the Wakefield Post Office from 1973 to 1999. He has been a resident of Wakefield for the past 16 years and a former resident of North Reading for 25 years.

Joe had a charming personality with a great sense of humor. He loved his children and grandchildren with all of his heart. He had a welcoming smile and found joy in making people laugh.

Joe loved music, history, westerns and loved to read. He was a diehard Bruins fan and enjoyed playing cards. He also loved to play on the piano.

Family members include his loving son, Daniel J. Park and his daughter, Jennifer (Park) Strangman and her husband Jay, all of North Reading; sisters, Nancy Park of Hampton, NH and Jean Sheridan of Melrose; grandchildren, Scott and Casey Strangman and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Friday, May 27 at 10:30 AM. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 26 from 5 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to: American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

William R. Poor

William Poor pic croppedflagWilliam R. Poor – 77, of Laconia, NH and formerly of Winthrop, MA, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Blaire House in Tewksbury.

Born in Winthrop, MA on July 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Nathalie (Striebeck) Poor. He was a graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1956. Bill was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, he was a Corporal and served from 1956 to 1958.

He worked for many years as a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed carpentry, John Wayne, animals and pets. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Bill had a great love for his wife and family. He had a dry sense of humor and a quiet acceptance and appreciation of what life offered him.

Family members include his loving wife of 22 years, Elizabeth (Snow) Poor, of Laconia, NH and formerly of North Reading; sons, Matthew E. Poor of Englewood, FL and Thomas J. Murphy, IV of Pepperell; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Melissa Dejesus and Katherine Poor; brother of the late Alan and Richard Poor and husband of the late Grace McDonald.

His Funeral service will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Friday, June 3 at Noon. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11:50 AM. Pearl E. Carbone

Pearl Carbone pic 1Pearl  E. (Mosher) Carbone – 96, of North Reading,  formerly of Revere, Providence, RI and New York, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert Carbone.

Born in Providence, RI on October 7, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Fuller) Mosher. Pearl was raised and attended school in Providence, RI. She had worked for a Jewelry Manufacturer and as a Nursing Assistant in her later years.

Pearl had a great knowledge of life. She helped build her current house with her late husband Albert. She enjoyed playing the guitar and she loved animals and birds. She has been a resident of North Reading for the past 61 years.

Family members include her loving daughter, Carol DiForte and her husband Salvatore of Marblehead; her sister, Lillian McCarthy (age 98) of Rhode Island;  grandchildren, Scott DiForte and his wife Lisa and Dawn Parker and her husband Christopher; great grandchildren, Loren DiForte, Matthew and Samantha Parker.

Calling hours will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Tuesday, May 24 from 2:00 to 3:50 PM, followed by a service at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to: The Salvation Army, 93 North Street, Salem, MA 01970.

Leo P. Millette

Known For His Carpenter Skills
Leo, A longtime resident of North Reading, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home May 11, 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Ann Pacholski, step daughter Kimberly Cabral and her husband Steven of North Andover and extended family.
Leo will be remembered as a compassionate and generous person. His talent was appreciated by all who knew him.
After his retirement from Northland Company of Boston, he built his dream workshop where he enjoyed creating and building furniture for many of his friends and family.
He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Burial services will be private.
