Mary Jo Hohl

Mary  Jo  (Ford)  Hohl –  of Webster, New York and formerly of North Reading, died on May 01, 2017, at age 59, following a rapid health decline due to multiple myeloma and amyloid  osis. Predeceased by her mother Patricia, sister Lisa, in-laws John & Ruth Hohl, sister-in-law Mary Beth (Hohl) Janisse, grandparents Violet & Robert Ford, Agnes & Willard Whitney, great-aunt and great-uncle Geraldine and John Kelly. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Lawrence Hohl; children: Patricia (James Wells), Elizabeth (Christopher Svendsen), John (Erin Shambo), Daniel (fiancé Nicole Gilbody), and Michael; father Roy Ford; brothers: Robert (Catherine), Thomas (Lisa), Daniel (Susan), and John (Sandy); sister-in-law Ruth Anne (Jim) Borger; brothers-in-law Robert (Michael Kelly), and Daniel Hohl, Richard (Wendy) Janisse; loving Aunts and Uncle Jacqueline Bleakney, Beverly Lowrey, Barbara & Charles Symonds; cousins, many nieces and nephews, and many many dearly beloved friends.

Born in Charleston, SC on July 21, 1957, Mary Jo lived in North Reading where she graduated from North Reading High School in 1975. Mary Jo received a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from The College of the Holy Cross in 1979, a Diploma in Nursing from Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in 1986, and a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from the University of Rochester in 1992. Mary Jo was a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps 1979- 1980, serving as a counselor in a group home in Bethel, Alaska. She was director of the Harvard-Radcliffe Catholic Student Center in Cambridge until entering the nursing profession. Mary Jo held nursing positions in the Rochester area which included labor and delivery, high-risk obstetrics, community health, long-term care, director of care for the uninsured at Mercy Outreach Center, and for the last eight years – school nursing at Schlegel Road Elementary School in Webster. She was an active member of St. Rita Church since relocating to Webster from Cambridge in 1987. An avid supporter of her children’s myriad of activities, Mary Jo was a loyal volunteer with Webster High School Marching Band, Girl Scouts, and Cub/Boy Scouts. She loved to travel, especially to visit or with family, and greeted each sunrise with her motto “Every Day’s an Adventure!”

Family and friends are invited to call at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster on Sunday, May 7, from 2 – 6 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 8, at 11:15 AM at St. Rita Church in Webster, NY. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, North Reading and will take place privately. Timothy A. Douglas

Timothy  A.  Douglas – 46, of Andover, died unexpectedly on April 27, 2017.

Born in Andover, MA on June 6, 1971. He was a lifelong resident of Andover and was a graduate of the Lawrence Vocational School.

Tim worked for the Massachusetts School of Law, Essex County Sheriff’s Office and for Scrap Metal Management in West Newbury.

He was a generous and loving person, with a fantastic sense of humor and heart. He was loved by many friends and relatives. He was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed bow hunting for deer and loved riding his Harley Davidson.

Family members include his loving mother, Marjorie L. Douglas of Andover and his late father Larry R. Douglas; his children, Brandon Douglas, Cameron Douglas and Owen Timothy Douglas; his sister, Robin Douglas Boucher, her husband Cary and their children, Kyle, Ryan, Colin and Caroline Boucher of North Reading.

Mary A. McGlauflin

Mary A. McGlauflin- 94 ,of Reading, MA and formerly of Lynnfield, MA. — Mary A. McGlauflin passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2017.  Mary was known by all who met her as having a strong, loving and true spirit, that showed through even during her last few years of declining capacity. 

Mary was born and raised in Portland Maine, attending Deering High School and Portland Junior College, where she met her future husband Robert McGlauflin.  Mary excelled in her academics but put aside academic or career aspirations, choosing to devote her time and energy to her family.  Mary, Robert, and their three young children moved to Lynnfield in 1960.  Mary lived in Lynnfield for 53 years, including 39 years after Robert passed away in 1978.  She was a member of St. Maria Goretti’s Parish in Lynnfield.

 Mary worked as an administrative assistant at the Lynnfield Town Hall for twenty-one years, until she retired in 1989.   She worked hard all her life without complaint, always seeking to be of help to others and never seeking or expecting help for herself. Mary enjoyed being with family and friends, reading, crossword puzzles, and playing tennis, and after retirement, she enjoyed the occasional trip with the “the girls.”

 Mary is survived by her daughter Maureen MacRae of Andover, son David McGlauflin and daughter-in-law Heidi of North Reading, son Bruce McGlauflin and daughter-in-law Helene of Bath, Maine; eight grandchildren, Allison Jessica, Vanessa, Johanna, Robert, Brielly, Molly and Conor; and six great-grandchildren, Stephen, Jaxon, Julia, Ayla, Savanna, Mabel, and Levi; and many nieces and nephews.

 The family would like to thank the staff at the Residence at Pearl Street, an assisted living facility in Reading, for the loving care and support they gave Mary.

 A funeral Mass will be held at St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut Street in Lynnfield on Friday, May 5th at 10:30 am.  Calling hours will be held at Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading Home prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 10:00 am.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield. William J. Wilkes

 

William J. Wilkes – 91, of Derry, NH and formerly of North Reading, died Friday afternoon, April 21, 2017 at Aurora Senior Living in Derry, NH, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, MA on April 3, 1926.  He was the son of the late William and Katherine (Murphy) Wilkes.  He was raised and attended school in Brookline and was a graduate of Brookline High School.

William was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Judith A. (Davis) Wilkes of Derry, NH, his grandson, Parker Wilkes and his granddaughter, Angela Cataldi. He was the brother of the late Frances Wilkes and the late Eileen (Wilkes) Allen.

William is survived by his son and daughter in law, Stephen & Mary Wilkes of  Derry, NH, daughter, Patricia Goodwin of Londonderry, NH, daughter, Alison Comeau of Londonderry, NH, daughter,  Lynne Sullivan of Methuen, son a n d  daughter in law,  Paul & Heidi Wilkes, of Raeford, NC and daughter Paula Brougham of  Derry, NH. Also  survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

William served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II Veteran of the Pacific War.

He loved playing cribbage, softball and candlepin bowling. He worked for the town of Brookline and also worked at Candlepin Lanes in North Reading for many years. He was a resident of North Reading for over 50 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus of  North Reading. He has been a resident of Derry, NH for the past 14 years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Senior Living and Hospice for their care and support of William in his final days. Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
